Data analysis on the resilience of the economic fabric of Puglia
Stephen Carrara, Administrator Leanus, opened the Motore Italia Puglia panel entitled The economic outlook of the territory: trends, objectives and strategies.
«At a national level, Puglia has a business system that is among the top 10 for overall turnover. There are about 2 thousand companies with revenues exceeding 2 million euros. This is a system that is growing, a trend that will continue even after 2021. In 2023, total revenues has risen to 35,6 billion".
In Carrara's analysis, a focus on the steel industry could not be missed: "The Ilva does not have its registered office in Puglia but it has a fundamental weight on the territory. The 2011 budget compared to the 2022 budget has substantially the same numbers from the point of view of revenues, but worsening margins” – explained the Founder of Leanus. “The companies in the province of Taranto with more than 2 million employees account for a total of 3 billion in turnover, Acciaierie d'Italia alone accounts for double that. The numbers for the related industries, surprisingly, are positive.”
In the final painting Carrara explains how "Puglia company could withstand a -22% drop in turnover and still maintain a positive margin, this demonstrates how resilient the entire Apulian economic system is.”
